New River Valley Pole Vault Club

NRV Vault is the New River Valley’s new pole vault club.  The club will meet each WEDNESDAY from 7:00 to 9:00 and each SUNDAY from 5:30 to 7:30.  Each club session will be held at Virginia Tech at either the Johnson-Miller Outdoor Track or the Charles Rector Field depending on weather and other sports scheduling at Virginia Tech.  The club director and head coach is Bob Phillips.  Coach Phillips is the Virginia Tech pole vault coach.

“Vault Safe, Have Fun, Compete Well!”

Cost:   Club tuition is $131 per semester (Fall: August 28 to December  18,  Spring: January 11 to April 30) Summer dates and rates are still being determined.  Checks should be made out to NRV Vault.   Tuition is due at the first session.  Prorated refunds will be available for those leaving the club within in the first three week.

Ages:   The club is open to males and females age 16 to 19.  All experience levels are welcome and we anticipate that most participants will not have pole vaulted before.   Participants must live within a 50 mile radius of Virginia Tech.  There is an exception to the 50 mile rule if NRV Vault is the closest sports club to your location.

Safety:   Safety is the number one concern of the club.  Pole vaulting, when learned in a proper skill progression, is a very controlled and safe event.   However, as in all sports, there is always a danger of injury.   Club members that do not obey safety rules will be dismissed from the club.  Pole vaulting safety and the pole vault progression will be discussed at the first meeting.

Insurance:  Club members must provide proof of medical insurance before being allowed to participate.

Initial Session:  The club’s first session is scheduled for SUNDAY, August 29th at 5:30 in Rector Field House.  Running shoes, shorts or sweat pants, and a t-shirt is all that you need.

Contact:  If interested, please contact Coach Phillips at bob.phillips@vtpolevault.com.  Please include your name, birthdate, and address.
